Thank you @HDMPod for yet another great interview! Really enjoyed how you could speak freely about the whole trilogy and more, and how it transfers to the screen. And for once I actually listened to it right after it came out. #HisDarkMaterials https://t.co/tdI9vuLnZO
@StApolloandCleo @jackthorne There was some rumors about this earlier too, when they changed the branding to match the HP logo from the films. Some suspected WB was in talks about an adaptation even then.
@StApolloandCleo @HDMPod @janetranter1 Iāve heard the American version of TAS was a bit censored, anyone knows if the American version changed the age too? That would at least explain why people are all confused, but also kinda not.
@StApolloandCleo @HDMPod @janetranter1 Seems like itās all some sort of misunderstanding, stemming from a Deadline interview in 2019
āIn the third book, The Amber Spyglass, Lyra is around 16 years of age, which, in success, would allow Bad Wolf to film in 2021.ā
Other sources just cite that one

@StApolloandCleo @HDMPod @janetranter1 After some quick searching, I found a Reddit post from 2019 discussing this, so itās possible Lyra being 16 in S3 was mentioned earlier at some point. Iāll admit I didnāt follow the TV series development nearly closely enough before season 1 hit. https://t.co/1SZ56d3iWQ
@dragonfelluk @StApolloandCleo @HDMPod @janetranter1 Reminds me of this yet again. Did the author of that old article know something we didnāt? Lyra as 16 doesnāt bother me as much as that article being wrong, but I still find it amazing that theyāll fit 3 yrs in two eps and have time for the rest of TAS too https://t.co/oJC1E8dFIb
@dragonfelluk @StApolloandCleo @HDMPod @janetranter1 Probably. I do know Lyra is 12/13 in the books, but it almost sounded like Jane didnāt (Iām sure she does though). But it struck me how Lyra being 16 for the show was put as just another fact we all should know well, while I hadnāt heard any specifics. We knew thereād be some gap
@StApolloandCleo The dƦmon settling (+spectre) problem would also probably have affected Will from the start. Marketing material (if that can be trusted) labels him as 15, and Lyra as 13 in S1/2. Theyāre already stretching the limits, so I assume itās not as strictly linked to puberty in the show
